The following question was posed earlier, figured it would be interesting to see other peoples takes on it.

What movie series are there that had the first movie being good, the second movie being terrible, and the third movie being good again.

I would need to say the Die Hard series would be one.

Any others?

I liked Die Hard II more than 3, but I seem to be in the minority.

I'll nominate Mission Impossible.

Ooh, Mission: Impossible is an excellent answer. What I was looking for with this question is whether a movie series can recover from a terrible sequel. Usually movies seem to be good for two bad sequels, since the first usually makes some money based entirely on the previous (good) movie's reputation, while no one will even give the second a chance. Or at least, that's how it seems to me.

The obvious answer to this question is The Matri... no wait, that only had 1 movie.

What I meant to say is Starship Troopers. Original was great, 2nd one was BALLS, 3rd one... amazing.

The first one was Starcraft with Doogie Houser

The 2nd one Hero of the Federation was more of a horror movie and sucked balls.

The 3rd was Marauder. Mostly about stranded on a planet, Pitch Blackesque. But more like the first, but with Goliaths.

I'm sure the IMDB mentions it, but those sequels were direct to DVD. I saw the 2nd one. It had boobs.

Sweet.
