So, as I mentioned in the chat yesterday with Tozzi I thought it might be fun to brainstorm some B5 cards for Race for the Galaxy, similar to the Dune themed mini expansion I saw on Boardgamegeek.com. The game provides you with a fairly large number of blank cards to use, so they could easily be incorporated into the deck if we like them enough. I'm going to throw out a few ideas here and maybe they'll grow over time. Please feel free to critique them and add your own ideas.

6 Cost Developments:

Touched by the Shadows
Worth 2 VP per player with a positive military score (will also add bonuses based on specific cards once those solidify)
V: Draw one card per card granting you military bonuses that you have in play

Touched by the Vorlons
Worth 2 VP per type of world you have in your tableau (any of the four good types, production or windfall) (will also add bonuses based on specific cards once those solidify)
II: Reduce cost of developments by 1
V: Draw one card per ALIEN card you have in play

Planet Killer Fleet
Worth a static 3 VPs
III: +4 Military
End the game if your Tableau has 10 cards in it instead of 12

Other Developments

Hybrid Alien Fleet
4 cost, 2 vps
+1 Military per ALIEN card in your tableau

Neutral Worlds

Babylon 5
6 cost, 4 vps
I: Combine cards from explore with your hand before discarding
II: Reduce development cost by 2
IV: 1 of any good for 2vps 1 card
IV: May trade one of any good during the Consume phase for it's normal trade value. Trade bonuses do not apply

Windfall Worlds

Z'ha'dum
Alien Windfall Military World, Defense 8, 4VP
III: +1 Military for each card granting you a military bonus
V: Draw 1 card for each type of military world in your tableau

Vorlon Homeworld
Alien Windfall World, Cost 8, 4 VP
IV: Consume a good from this world for 3VP
V: May produce a good on this world by discarding 2 cards

That's it for now . . . all pricey stuff except for the hybrid fleet, which was Tozzi's suggestion, so clearly we need things that work at lower levels. I'm thinking of Psi-corps and Mars resistance as potential low level developments. Probably the Great Machine on Epsilon V as a 4 cost planet of some sort . . .

I would do the B5 station differently, maybe:
Development, 4 cost/2 vp
III: -1 military, may place Alien military worlds as non-military worlds at -2 cost (like contact specialist, but only for alien, and with a higher bonus to make up for it)
IV: Consume any good for 2vp and 1 card
V: Draw a card if you produced more Alien Tech than anyone else

Psi Corp
Development, 3 cost, 1? vp
I: +2 draw
III: +1 military, +1 military for alien worlds

Edit:
Oh, forgot to say, Touched by Vorlon/Shadow should both give points for controlling the respective homeworld

Hmmm, I like the ability to place Alien Military as non-military - it would be pretty much the only card in the game that did so, but I think I really want it to be a world rather than a development, though I guess there's not much reason not too.

I had originally played around with the idea of making it a Windfall or Production world of all four types and having the type of good produced be either random or dictated by how many worlds of each type you have in play . . . . actually, momentary brainwave, what if the good underneath it refreshes whenever someone trades in a good? And it becomes a good of that type? I really wanted it to somehow feel like a nexus point of the galaxy.

Generally I like the Psi Corp development, but I'm iffy on the +1 for ALIEN worlds, it always felt more generic than that to me. What about +2 Draw, +1 Card kept, +1 Military?

I was trying to capture the "telepaths as weapons in the shadow war" idea with the +1 military for alien worlds, but I can see your point too.

I feel like the different types of good mechanic creates something that will be a pain to keep track of - at the moment, you never need to remember what kind of good something has, this would require some kind of colored counter or something. I'll ponder it. I liked B5 as a development because it's a station, not a world, but I can be persuaded otherwise.
