After recording two podcasts (and putting up one...), I've learned a few things. First and foremost, the regular podcasts (in the style of the first) will be bi-weekly from now on, at least as long as I'm the one editing them and whatnot. Since I still haven't put up the second podcast, I'm considering the "second week" since the first one to be this weekend. So if people are up for it, I'm willing to record a podcast tomorrow.

Whether we do or not, there are a few things I'd like to say about the podcasts in general. I'll try to be as concise as possible, but I have a lot of things to say.

As I mentioned in the chat, I will put out the second podcast we recorded sometime later as a "special presentation." In the end, we decided not to follow the "usual" podcast format, and it just became kind of a roundtable MMO discussion, so I'm not counting it as a normal episode. Though in the future I'd be up for doing similar podcasts from time to time (but not too often, they're a pain to put together) if people want to have similar discussions.

With that in mind, future podcast episodes will adhere more strictly to the first podcast's format (or whatever changes we may make to it). Basically intro/what have you been up to/news/topical discussion, in that order. The idea is for these to be "uncut" podcasts, where I'm only editing out breaks (and the usual noises and whatnot). Editing these things is not a trivial task, so I can't be splicing together a podcast like I was making a film even every other week. I (kinda) have a life, you know!

The reason we got so far off format last week was because the podcast participants mostly wanted to talk about the same thing, and that wasn't news or what they'd been doing (since we were mostly all playing MMO's). So in the future, in addition to myself, I'd like to have at least one each of the following represented on the podcast: someone who pays attention to Internet news (like Matt, not sure who else qualifies actually), someone who actually plays console games (having a PC gamer would be nice as well, but is less vital), and at least two someones who've done something other than play MMOs. Keep in mind since these podcasts are going bi-weekly, the news and "what have you been up to" segments will cover two weeks now, meaning I have more freedom to pick and choose news stories the participants may actually care about, but the second podcast news fell flatter than a pancake, and I want to avoid that in the future.

Finally, podcasts will be recorded on Saturday. I want them done and uploaded before I go to work on Monday, so no more Sunday night stuff.

With those guidelines in mind, does anyone want to be on a podcast made tomorrow? If I can't get four people I'll just wait until next week, but if anyone's interested, let me know. I know Matt's on vacation, and I don't know about anyone else, so I guess we'll see what happens.

Hey, I keep up on internet/tech news. Also, I'm into console games and do just about anything BUT play MMO's. Does that mean I could be the only other guest you need to do the podcast?

Also, I'm curious, did you send out the notes before hand about what news articles you were going to talk about? Just wondering why the news segment fell so flat for that previous recording. I understand that Clair is ONLY capable of talking about MMO's and Magic tournaments, but that shouldn't have stopped everyone else Wink

I suppose I could be around for a podcast tomorrow afternoon if you really need someone. As I've said before though, I don't seem to be on the same page as everyone else as far as how the podcast should go, so I don't know if it's a good idea for me to be on or not.

Oh, and speaking of news articles, has anyone else heard the story of the substitute teacher who was using a computer in front of 7th graders when malware on the computer started a porn storm. She was convicted by a jury on 4 counts of child endangerment and can be sentenced up to 40 years. Yikes :\

Actually, the news fell flat because no one gave a crap about any of it. Except for the release of the new Magic set, anyway. And LOTRO's release details, which we let Brian pimp in the MMO podcast. (Hmm, Magic and MMO's? Check.) But there was no love for the Rondo of Blood remake on PSP, and that's unforgivable! (Although frankly I'm not sure anyone else would have cared either, but by god you should.)

But yeah, you can definitely be on the podcast. I'll put you at the top of the "to-bug" list tomorrow. I hope you don't plan on sleeping until noon, like every friggin' person on the last podcast. (Slackers!)

What?! You're taking podcast advice from people who don't care about the Rondo of Blood port? What you thinking?! Of course I know about that, and I care. More to the point, I care it's on the PSP and not a system I ever plan on owning ever. Grrr.... Otherwise that's going to be where the shit is at yo.

No, no I won't be sleeping till noon tomorrow. Of course, I will be out house hunting till noon and quite possibly some other chores, but definitely not sleeping.

Wow, you know and care? You're fucking hired. (You know... so to speak.)

In related news (which I'll probably mention on the podcast), this year looks like it might be the one that makes the PSP a must-have for serious gamers. Hot Castlevania ports, lots of Final Fantasy games, plus MGS Portable Ops is already out... that PSP may have life yet.
